Cookin' up new things - in a KILN!!

So, I started a new hobby with my hands and I'm enjoying it - like, a lot! Over the months, it has become my reward system where I will finish my homework just so I can go spend a few hours throwing clay on the wheel. It is way too much fun! Anyhow, here are some of my favorite pieces I've finished! I still have a lot to learn and I'm constantly working to get better at it, but I'm enjoying the potter's journey I've begun.

Mountain Movers

Over winter break last year, I painted this 18 x 24 acrylic painting of two American Badgers for the 2018 Wyoming Conservation Stamp Art Contest. This past weekend, the competition was held in Cheyenne Wyoming and I got Honorable Mention! I'm praising God for a great competition and getting to travel down to Cheyenne with my family to see all the entries and the announcement of the winners.

FREE INDEED!

So here is a "tradigital" painting/drawing I did for Jerrica Brasington, who goes to my church. I began the picture with a pencil drawing of the chains, refining them and giving them all the nice graphite texture. Then I scanned it onto my computer and finished it out on Autodesk Sketchbook to add all the shards, birds, words, and color. She then got it printed on a canvas. Really a fun project!

More Remarques...

This has honestly been a really tough learning curve to do these remarques,
but I'm pretty happy with the way these ones turned out!

Duck Stamp Remarque

A "remarque" is a painting done directly on a block of stamps which is painted by the artist featured on the stamps. So, here is my first remarque I did for a Junior Duck Stamp collector. It was a completely new and invigorating painting experience - which I got to record via time-lapse! You can watch the video by clicking on this link:
Enjoy!

The Roaring Fork Valley

Here's an acrylic painting I did for my boss a couple months ago. It's a landscape of the valley where he and his wife grew up in Colorado, under the shadow of Mt. Sopris, the snowcapped mountain in the middle of the painting. This painting reflects what the area looked like in the 1950's. He really enjoyed it and gave it to his wife as a Christmas gift.

Blurred Flight

This is my first try at doing a sort of "in motion" painting. It's really loose and impressionistic compared to what I'm used to doing, but I like it a lot!
